New Year, New Colour!

Introducing the 2014 Pantone color of the year RADIANT ORCHID!

main_bannerIt’s a sensually warm yet brightly innovative tone that’s mesmericly mixed with hues of pinks to create the perfect hybrid of flushing fuchsia and passionate purples resembling the unique botanical bloom! Many brands have already jumped on the trend.

See my favorite picks below:

Tiffany & Co. has already released their beautiful trio of pantone related pieces that include rings in diamond and platinum settings, from the 2013 Blue Book Collection, set with (clockwise from left) a pear-shaped violet spinel, an oval pink sapphire and a round pink spinel. I would call this a double trend due to the fact that this also the year of the spinel if my projections are correct!    ImageGen.ashx

A standard unmatched Chopard released this purple spinel in their 2013 Red Carpet Collection proving they’re ahead of their time! Take note of the beautifully diamond-paved doubled sided shank!

Lorraine Schwartz Kills a Cushion Cut for Kim!

Kim Kardashian - engaged at park

When the 36-year-old rapper Kanye West proposed to Kim Kardshian, the mother of his 4-month-old daughter, North, with a 15-carat diamond ring, he definitely did it in true Yeezy fashion. A rep from Lorraine Schwartz confirms that the ring is a D flawless cushion cut and a perfect diamond. Schwartz worked together with Yeezus on the vision he had in mind when it came to put a ring on it. The result, a diamond of heavenly proportions, fit for an Armenian Princess!

Kardashian posted a close-up photo of her ring on Instagram with the stadium screen in the background reading “Pleeease Marry Me”. She simply captioned the photo, “YES!!!”

The general public not understanding the greater significant beauty that lies within her ring this go round. You can’t compare her ring from Humphries, whom proposed with a 16.21-carat center diamond and two 1.8-carat side diamonds also from Lorraine Schwartz, but not near her new internally flawless beauty! (Kardashian, not Humphries, initially paid for the ring.) The ring’s initial reported worth was $2 million, but sold for a total of $749,000 at a Christie’s auction in New York City on Oct. 15. A portion of the proceeds from the sale was going to charity. That was nice!

Then wearing Humpries’ ring:

and NOW rocking Ye’s !!!!

2013 Fantasy Bra – Victoria Secret Fashion Show

Candice SwanepoelAiring TUES. DEC. 10TH 9/10 C

Every year  it’s the one holiday event that both men and women agree to watch, the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, except with completely different agendas in mind!

Generally speaking it’s a plethora of push-up bra plentiful beauties strutting their stuff down a catwalk that excites the demographic which is normally tuned into football – but for the ladies it’s so much more. WE LOVE IT ALL! The gorgeous nearly mystic women we’ve learned to call “angels”, the clothes – or lack there of, the fashion, the music and artful. But most importantly the breathtaking finale bra that cost more than 99% of women’s engagement rings!

Victoria’s Secret typically presents jewelers with a choice of several themes and then hands over the entire design process to them. This year the lucky angel was Candice Swanpoel who sported the bra designed by jeweler Mouawad while Taylor Swift rocked the stage. This was a surprise for me since it’s been done by London Jewelers for the last two years in a row.

Mouawad’s bra appropriately named “The Royal” consisted of 4,200 precious stones like rubies and yellow sapphires while the focal point was a 52 carat tear drop ruby! The model admitted that walking around in a $10 million fit made her nervous. I would have been too but sometimes a girl just has to get into Elizabeth Taylor character and own the night in a masterpiece like that!

“They had to mold my body to be able to make the bra and I was really excited,” Swanepoel told PEOPLE. The South African beauty followed in the footsteps of Miranda Kerr, Tyra Banks, Gisele Bündchen, Heidi Klum and Alessandra Ambrosio by wearing the annual mind boggling brazier!

I still can’t forget last year’s $2.5 million floral creation by London Jewelers worn by Alessandra Ambrosio as she strutted down the catwalk to Rihanna. I about died when I saw her in those orchid wings!

Last year’s feminine floral design was inspired by an Angels in Bloom theme, a fantasy garden filled with vibrant colored flowers. London Jewelers adorned some 5,200 precious gems: amethysts, sapphires, tsavorites, rubies, and white, pink, and yellow diamonds set in 18k rose and yellow gold. It was equipped with two detachable flower pins and a drop centerpiece with a 20 carat white diamond. The value of the bra and belt combined: $2.5 million. Marketing the bustier a Bombshell Fantasy Fragrance bottle was encrusted with amethysts, sapphires, rubies, tsavorites, white, pink, and yellow diamonds, a 10 ct. white diamond, and a hand-carved tourmaline butterfly. The eau de parfum and its decadent packaging was priced at $500,000.

The Angels in Bloom theme lent itself best to jewelry, according to London Jewelers vice president Randi Udell-Alper. It also follows a colorful direction that’s becoming more prevalent in the industry. “We did an ombré effect in the pinks, yellows, and colored stones,” she says. “It was classic and funky at the same time.”

London Jewelers’ master craftsmen sifted through some 15,000 stones to find the perfectly-colored, -sized and -shaped gems; it took them 400 hours to select and—one by one—hand-set the stones in the bra set and fragrance bottle.

“It was a lot of time, effort, and labor from a jeweler’s standpoint,” said Udell-Alper. “We welded everything onto the bra.” Asked why London Jewelers took on the arduous task, Udell-Alper said, “We love doing anything different from other jewelers. We always look to find cutting-edge. Yet we’re still in our roots and foundation as family-owned.”

The bra set and fragrance were created exclusively for Victoria’s Secret’s new three-story flagship at Herald Square in New York City.

The Istanbul Blues

I was already very saddened by the news of recent protests and violent outburst in the streets of Istanbul. I stood there in that very place where the chaos broke out in Taksim Square year before last and fell in complete love with the city as I pranced around buying jewelry watching it refract off my bronzed skin under the mediterranean sunlight.

I listened to the call of prayer, took a deep breath and thought to myself I have found a second home in Istanbul. It was like being in New York for me, except in a magical version submerged in breathtaking architecture, culture, history and most apparent of all LOVE. The Turkish people were amazing and embraced me with open arms. There wasn’t a single place I visited where I wasn’t greeted with coffee or tea. At night they wrap you in warm blankets and prop your feet up for you while they serve you hookah. And the night life is like that of no other! You may have think you’ve partied in life but you haven’t till you hit the streets of Istanbul after dark.

People so kind, cuisine so fine, endless baubles that shine. I could really get used to frequenting this place.  You see, I have this problem of me not being able to go any where without buying stuff for myself and others too like my mom, sister and besties! Take a peek at a few things I brought back:

  • Diamond and sapphire evil eye ring
  • Diamond evil eye and glass charm on roap
  • Muslim prayer cuff – GOLDAS
  • Muslim prayer earrings – GOLDAS
  • Bangels – blue agate and gold

This week The World Federation of Diamond Bourses is holding its President’s Meeting inIstanbul despite the recent violence that was too close for comfort for their sister group the International Diamond Manufacturers Association, who opted out on their attendance.

Apparently safety wasn’t the only issue that affected the IDMA’S presence this year. It was reported that they had a lackluster turn out of registrants as well. Sad because Istanbul is a wonderful place to hold the meeting.

Nonetheless, I will continue to keep the people of Turkey in my prayers and close to my heart.

Each and every place I go you can count on me checking out two things for sure; the jewels and the plants. I may be a dainty diamond darling but I am also a total garden girl at heart! I have to take off my rings and swap them out for a pair of planting gloves from time to time. While on vacay always make sure to stop and smell the roses!

Turquoise Noise!

I don’t know if it’s because I’m partially Persian or simply a Texan but Turquoise never gets old to me. I can stack my bangles perfectly coordinated, then run back to my jewelry box before I leave and grab a turquoise one to blend in with the rest.

It’s a hot color right now, period. Notice celebs are rocking the bright color in all forms from their clutches and pants to their shellac manicures. Let it be known the same goes for jewelry!

Even though the picture of Eva in that flawless white Christian Dior having her Van Cleef  and Arpels moment is from a few years back, January Jones showed us that the color is still hot on the red carpet!

Take a look at some of my favorite turquoise finds:
